Join us for the second annual feather painting class at NatureFEST. Learn feather painting and create your own framed work of art to take home. Elaine Maisel will lead this workshop, where you will learn feather painting technique and how to preserve and display feathers in a shadowbox frame. We will be working with wild turkey feathers, and will discuss the biology of feathers as well as the legal issues that protect birds in North America. You will have the opportunity to paint several feathers and frame your favorite during this three-hour workshop. All materials (feathers, paint, brushes, picture frame, framing materials) will be provided.
Elaine Maisel lives in Ridgeland, Mississippi where she is a member of the Craftsman’s Guild of Mississippi and is a teaching artist with the Mississippi Arts Commission. Elaine paints on feathers, with an emphasis on whimsical miniatures that reflect her interests in nature, animals, literature and life in Mississippi. See her work at www.feathermore.me and at FeatherMore on Facebook.
The class is limited to 25 students so don’t delay! Registration deadline is March 31, 2017.
