Upcoming Workshops

June 12-13, and 14th 2018
Flint Creek Water Park near Wiggins, MS
Registration Deadline Extended:  May 25, 2018

Adopt-A-Stream is a program that promotes environmental stewardship through training workshops, outdoor field activities and by introducing participants to watershed action projects.
The two-day program provides an in-depth study of watersheds, as well as hands-on training in chemical and biological parameters important to a healthy stream.  In addition, the workshop will:

  • Increase awareness of non-point source pollution
  • Introduce surveying and mapping of your watershed
  • Increase watershed protection awareness and possible actions that can be taken to help your watershed.  It Begins at Home is a new program with ideas about projects such as;

*  Storm Drain Marking
*  Stream Clean-ups
*  Recycling
*  Advocacy and More

This workshop will have an extra element to it this year! An optional 1/2 day on June 14th can be added to the 2 days of the workshop with a small additional cost. On June 14th a canoe trip on Black Creek (which is a Wild and Scenic stream) is planned. You will learn about the flora and fauna of the area and also participate in a clean-up of the river.

Who Should Participate?

Educators, land managers, advocacy groups, Scout troop leaders, Envirothon Team Advisors, watershed team leaders, environmental educators, concerned citizens and others. For teachers, 2 CEU credits are available.

On Tuesday the workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.  The workshop begins at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.  Because the workshop starts so early, we offer lodging on Monday night at no additional charge.  Should you be interested in participating in the optional canoe trip on Black Creek June 14th, accommodations are provided June 13th also. BED AND BATH LINENS ARE NOT PROVIDED!
